dancehall

Often recognized for its grimey, murderous and lewd lyrics, dancehall music has become the most popular sound coming out of Jamaica in this era. Dancehall music, in truth, is a documentation of the lives of ordinary Jamaicans who occupy the “dungeons” of Jamaican society. The music in this edition are selections that give voice to the elements of patriotism, survival, relaxation in distress and social intelligence that are rife among the people of Jamaica from which Dancehall music echoes.

Tracks cover the period 2000 - 2020.
